Director
Carl Johan Sundberg, co-founder of KIF I, is a licensed physician
(MD degree from Karolinska Institutet) and part-time Associate
Professor at the Department of Physiology and Pharmacology at
Karolinska Institutet. He has published more than 40 scientific
articles and special scientific reports, mainly in the area
of molecular human physiology. He has also published some 20
popular scientific articles in leading public media. He has
been the Course Director for several highly acclaimed industry
training programs: Science-Based Companies, Medicine for Journalists,
Medicine/Drug Discovery for the Financial Industry and Biotechnology
for Decision Makers. These courses have built on the experience
Dr Sundberg gained from founding and managing his own medical
education company. He has extensive experience from science
communication, having designed several medical exhibitions at
science centres and having worked in the medical units of Swedish
and American media. Dr Sundberg has been vice-president of Euroscience
(a pan-European Association for the promotion of science and
technology) and founded Euroscience Open Forum, an international
meeting on the role of science in society, business, politics
and the media. Currently, he is on the editorial Board of the
Swedish Medical Journal. He is also Chairman of Venture Cup
East, a business-plan competition. Dr Sundberg is a Board member
of Global Genomics AB and NsGene AB.
