Sidec Technologies takes a major step into the US market for structure based drug design, through alliance with The Center for Biophysical Sciences and Engineering, Birmingham, AL

Sidec Technologies, Stockholm, Sweden and The Center for Biophysical Sciences and Engineering (CBSE) located at The University of Alabama at Birmingham announced a joint collaboration to offer an extensive solution for structure based drug design.

Sidec and the CBSE have entered into a co-marketing agreement where they are offering combined research services for pharma and biotech, to accelerate their drug discovery process. The solution combines CBSE’s expertise in structure based drug discovery with Sidec’s methods to rapidly define the structure function relationships of membrane protein targets as well as biotherapeutic molecules.

Mr. Gosta Sjoholm, CEO of Sidec Technologies AB commented, “The alliance with CBSE represents a significant progress in Sidec’s new strategic direction. Together with CBSE we can formulate a very competitive offer to our clients. It is an important step in fulfilling our vision of bridging biology and chemistry, and for establishing our solutions on the US market. Through combining Sidec’s analysis of proteins in biological contexts with the CBSE technologies, we can shortcut the process of finding amply evaluated membrane targets and highly functional lead molecules”.

“Our expertise in determining structure/function relationships with high throughput x ray crystallography provides a complimentary approach to other highly effective tools such as Sidec’s rapid electron tomography method for researchers seeking information on protein characterization and visualization”, said Dr. Larry DeLucas, Director of CBSE.

About The Center for Biophysical Sciences and Engineering
Since 1986, The CBSE has been dedicated to determining the structure/function of biological molecules supporting structural proteomics and drug design methodology for chronic and infectious diseases. We have integrated our high throughput technologies in structure based drug discovery and x-ray crystallography to embrace the genes to drugs paradigm by attaining both speed and accuracy in the identification, optimization and development of new therapeutics that are central to modern pharmaceutical research and development. The CBSE is located on the campus of The University of Alabama at Birmingham. Please visit our website: www.cbse.uab.edu.
