December 8, 2003:
Successful launch makes Sidec Technologies extend its board and focus entirely on biotech supply

Sidec Technologies AB is now following up on the successful launch of its electron tomography service, for protein structure and function analysis within drug discovery.

Several new clients and an overwhelming market response made the company decide to focus entirely on biotech supply. The board has been added with Dr. Bengt Falk, Mr. Per Sjöberg, Dr. Jon-Sverre Schanche and Ms. Hedvig Saindrenan, all of whom with long experience in the biotech supply industry.

Concurrently, The Swedish Industrial Development Fund is increasing their shares and investing 4 MSEK in the company. Key personnel at Sidec also participated in the recent issue of new shares. Earlier this year Sidec established its first client in the US, and opened a US sales office in San Diego, CA, to better meet the growing interests overseas.

In successful contract research projects, Sidec has helped pharmaceutical and biotech companies, in studying e.g.; antibody epitopes, a membrane bound growth hormone receptor and protein glycosylation sites. The interest from the market and the number of such customers is steadily increasing. Therefore Sidec decided to concentrate exclusively on protein conformation and interaction analysis for drug discovery even though the company's proprietary signal reconstruction technology is a general method with several potential application areas. New board members with relevant experience have been recruited, and a sharpened strategy established. The strategy is aimed at creating a one-stop-shop service for protein structure and function characterization - from biological systems to chemistry.

The new board members are Dr. Bengt Falk, board member and chairman of a number of biotech companies in Sweden and Denmark, Mr. Per Sjöberg, Executive Vice President Marketing and Sales for Gyros AB, Dr. Jon-Sverre Schanche Vice President R&D, Pyrosequencing and Ms. Hedvig Saindrenan, Investment Manager, The Swedish Industrial Development Fund. Also members of the Sidec board are Mr. Stefan Winberg, Investment manager at The Karolinska Investment Fund, and Professor Ulf Skoglund, Chief Scientific Officer and founder of Sidec Technologies AB, Professor of molecular genetics, Karolinska Institutet. Mr. Lars Henriksson, Controller at The Swedish Industrial Development Fund and Dr. Johan Raud, Investment Manager at The Karolinska Investment Fund are deputy members of the board.
