Accuro Immunology AB selects first candidate drug

Swedish immunotherapy company reached key milestone and seeks partners and investors for entering clinical trials and further development of TEIPP, a novel immunotherapy for cancer.

Accuro Immunology AB today announced that the company has selected a candidate drug for entering pre-clinical and clinical programs for treatment of several cancer indications. The candidate drug TEIPP-01 has in animal models and human in vitro experiments demonstrated efficacy and other properties required for a validated clinical candidate.

“Our R&D team and academic partners have made an extraordinary effort by transforming the TEIPP technology from highly innovative research to the well characterized clinical candidate drug TEIPP-01. TEIPP-01 is based on dendritic cells which are stimulated using Accuro’s proprietary technology to activate the body’s immune system to identify and kill tumors. We believe TEIPP-01 will be highly effective against tumors which have downregulated their MHC antigens – a major problem for existing tumor vaccines” says the CEO of Accuro Immunology, Jacques Näsström.

Very succesfully all milestones set by the board of directors since the last financing have been reached. Accuro now seeks partners interested in participating in the further clinical development of the technology.

“TEIPP is a technology with breakthrough potential which could cure many cancer patients, so we will make all efforts possible to secure further development into clinical trials. We believe that optimal exploitation of TEIPP-01 will require a partnership with a pharma or biotech company and intend to identify such parters in the near future” says the CEO of Accuro Immunology, Jacques Näsström.

About Accuro Immunology
Accuro Immunology, founded 2000, is a biomedical discovery company based at Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden. Using its proprietary TEIPP technology, Accuro develops active immunotherapies directed at the common escape variants of several cancers. Immune escape variants are found in 30-80% of most large cancer indications, such as breast, prostate, melanoma, renal and cervical cancer. The company has established preclinical proof-of-concept and hos now successfully completed validation of its lead drug candidate TEIPP-01. The company’s pipeline includes cell-based as well as molecular cancer vaccines based on the TEIPP technology. To date, the technology has been tested in murine models for several tumors such as lymphomas, cervical carcinoma, colorectal carcinoma, fibrosarcoma and melanoma. The experimental evidence indicates a potential to develop TEIPP immunotherapy for all tumors tested. Accuro Immunology is a privately owned company. The company’s investors include Investor Growth Capital, a wholly owned subsidiary of Investor AB, Karolinska Investment Fund, and the Swedish Industrial Development Fund.
